Vicky BlissLinks of InterestArt TheftPerhaps the best way to track John Smythe is by checking in with the people responsible for dealing with art theft. Interpol's has a list of "most wanted" works of art. They also offer a CD-ROM that provides the names of stolen artworks so if you are an art buyer, you can check to make sure you're not purchasing a "hot" work of art. :-)On MPM's recommendation, you might want to visit the International Foundation for Art Research, which publishes a journal dealing with forged and stolen art. Interesting site on art theft, includes list of major cases with $$$ rewards! Art HistoryYou just gotta love Sister Wendy, the nun on PBS who has much to teach about art history, and particularly painting. Also check out the Art History Network for some good resources.Book ConnectionsWhile Schloss Drachenstein in Borrower of the Night was purely fictional, I was amused to find Drachenstein's Treasures, a company selling medieval accoutrements, including crowns and coronets. I guess you really CAN buy anything on the Internet these days...
